Notification Preferences
Configure how notifications are sent to you and your team. Notifications keep you informed about new requests, payments, violations, and other property activity.

Types of Notifications
Propty sends notifications for key property events:
| Event | Description |
|---|---|
| New payment received | A resident has made a payment on an invoice |
| New maintenance request | A resident has submitted a new request |
| Request update | A resident has added a message to a request |
| New ARC request | A resident has submitted an ARC request |
| Invoice overdue | An invoice has passed its due date without payment |
Configuring Notifications
1. Go to Settings
From the sidebar, click Settings under your property name.
2. Find Notification Settings
Look for the notifications section in your settings page.
3. Choose Your Preferences
For each notification type, you can configure:
- Email — Receive an email notification
- In-app — See the notification in your Propty dashboard
Resident Notifications
Residents receive notifications based on their own settings and the actions you take:

Resident Language Preference
Each resident has a language preference (English or French) set on their profile. Notifications are sent in the resident's preferred language. You can update this in the Edit Resident sheet.
Resident SMS Consent
Residents can opt in to SMS notifications. This is managed per-resident in the edit sheet. SMS consent must be explicitly enabled — it is off by default.
Troubleshooting
I'm not receiving notifications
- Check your email spam/junk folder
- Verify your email address is correct in your account settings
- Make sure notifications are enabled for the event type you expect
Residents say they didn't get a notification
- For invoices, check that "Send email notification" was enabled when creating or publishing the invoice
- Verify the resident's email address is correct
- Check the resident's status — only Active residents receive notifications
- Ask them to check their spam/junk folder
