Permission Denied Error
If you see a "Permission denied", "Access denied", or "403 Forbidden" error, it means your account does not have the required permissions for the action you are trying to perform.
Common Causes
For Property Managers
| Cause | Solution |
|---|---|
| Wrong role | You may be a Property Manager trying to perform an Organization Manager action (like adding team members). Ask your org manager for help. |
| Not assigned to property | You may not have access to this specific property. Ask your organization manager to assign you. |
| Session expired | Your login session may have expired. Log out and log back in. |
For Residents
| Cause | Solution |
|---|---|
| Not invited yet | Your account is in Pending status. Ask your property manager to send you a portal invitation. |
| Invitation not accepted | You received an invitation but haven't clicked the link yet. Check your email (including spam). |
| Account inactive | Your portal access may have been disabled. Contact your property manager. |
| Wrong property | You may be trying to access a property you are not associated with. Check the URL. |
Steps to Fix
1. Try logging out and back in
Your session may have expired. Go to app.propty.io, log out, and log back in.
2. Check the URL
Make sure you are accessing the correct page:
- Property managers should use URLs starting with
/properties/... - Residents should use URLs starting with
/portal/...
3. Verify your role
Ask your organization manager or property manager to confirm:
- Which role you have been assigned
- Which properties you have access to
4. Clear browser cache
In rare cases, old cached data can cause permission issues:
- Open your browser settings
- Clear cached data and cookies for app.propty.io
- Log in again
Still Not Working?
If you've tried the steps above and still see the error:
- Property managers: Contact your organization manager to review your account permissions
- Residents: Contact your property manager and ask them to check your status on the Residents page
- Note the exact error message and the URL where it occurs — this helps with troubleshooting
